ENTICING FROM THE START
They call it “Uniquely nuanced vintage Champagne” yet this D. Henriet-Bazin Champagne “Cuvée Marie-Amélie” Blanc de Blancs Fleurie de Vigne, Premier Cru 2014 is so much more. Once you get past its 16 word title, you are in for one unforgettable treat.
Owned and run by 5th generation independent Champenois, - Marie-Noëlle Henriet-Rainon and her husband, Nicolas - known for their organic processes containing zero synthetic pesticides, fertilizers and herbicides, and for their passion for combining different plots, grape varieties and vintages to come up with unique terroir cuvées.
Cuvée Marie-Amelie is the offspring of this very passion. Affectionately named after their daughter Marie-Amélie, this premier Cru interprets the elegant, rich and complex aromas of the Chardonnay Premier Cru from Villers-Marmery. This is a rare vintage, only vinified when the climate has offered the best conditions and 2014 just happened to offer one of its finest.
When it comes to rich and generous, this 100% Chardonnay, blanc de blancs is incredibly enticing from the start. With aromas of honeyed almonds, the richness follows through to the palate with ripe lemon zest, almonds, aromas full of brioche, citrus, with a smooth harmonious finish against a background of limestone and mint freshness.
If you’re looking to compliment your order of buttery lobster, seared scallops, roasted oysters, wild pink salmon or fagri (of course), then it’s worth pronouncing this long title in order to enjoy champagne of this calibre. You’ll be oh so glad you did.
