Oceanos is 'loveactually'

Welcome to Week 2 of “OCEANOS CLASSICS’’, where we share our personal rendition of the festive classics that make this holiday season so magical.

Get ready fellow foodies and movie buffs, because this week we’re revealing for the first time, (EVER!) the true origin story of the Xmas rom-com classic:

loveactually

Did you know that this famous rom-com was originally going to be called Oceanosactually? ... inspired by a romantic proposal dinner the writer/director Richard Curtis had here at OCEANOS? He kept repeating the word ‘love’ over and over throughout the meal and soon recognized that the words love and Oceanos were very much the same. thus the movie title.

(because, as Richard puts it, “what says love more than fresh seafood, sizzling steaks, and world class wine in a wonderland setting?)

Remember the scene where Mark shows up at Juliet’s door with those heartfelt cue cards? In the original script that was an OCEANOS’ lobster platter that arrived at their table—perfectly arranged, steaming fresh, and absolutely breathtaking. Just like the scene, there's no need for words; it simply is perfect. every time.

oh.. and who doesn’t remember the scene with Hugh Grant as prime minister, dancing through the halls of parliament? Hugh’s a great actor but... all that unabashed boogie-ing was thanks to none other than the copious supply from OCEANOS’ wine cellar. (he is a method actor, afterall) With over 200 champagnes alone to choose from, it’s no wonder he felt so bubbly and irresistible.

oh.. and what about the scene where Jamie (Collin Firth) put everything at stake (pun) and learned Portuguese just to propose to Aurelia? That delicious, crowd pleasing moment was as juicy as the 22 oz bone-in prime rib-eye that inspired it and just as tasty in any language.

Lastly, let’s not forget the character Billy Mack, the wildly inappropriate but lovable rock star who transforms a tired, dated tune into a magical holiday hit.  That playful spirit and festive vibe was no accident, guys.  OCEANOS’ glittering scenic winter venue with twinkling highlights, and festive frosted touches was the spark that inspired the spirit and turns any moment into a holiday hit.
