THE ART OF CRU'SING ...

OCEANOS Savigny-Lés Beaune Aux Clos 2021

Combine the birthplace of terroir, the wine of poets, a century-run family tradition and 7 sisters pioneering a new style of winemaking... (naturally!) and what do you get?

DOMAINE D'ARDHUY - home to 38 acres of premier pinot grapes, harvested in the unique terroir of the world's holy grail of wine - Beaune, Burgundy.

Don't be fooled by the name. Though  Savigny-Lés Beaune may be as common as 'Smith' to the pinot world -  the 7 sisters who own and work their family-owned estate are masters of the art of "cru'sing"  naturally and have produced an "aux Clous"  "premier cru" that is uniquely succulent, silky, spicy and refined. (and au 'naturel' )

Their secret?

Nothing is forced in the natural evolution of the wine. No picking, no maceration, no heat extraction. Even fermentation occurs naturally.  Their estate has been certified biodynamic since 2012 with a philosophy to allow the Terroir of each plot to express itself through the Pinot Noir grapes and produce balanced wines which combine crisp, fresh fruit and body.

Thus a surprisingly unpredictable  Premier Cru that delivers a velvety, ruby color and aromatic depth, with notes of tobacco, morello cherry, raspberry jelly, pepper and vanilla, with chocolate and leather tones on aeration. It's complex, subtle, round and suave...

And, best of all?  No one's discovered it. YET!
All the more reason this one's
the Beaune to pick!
